SUMMER 2018
Euripides / Ben Power
Medea
Medea, “the ultimate divorce play” as Ben Power has called it, recounts Jason’s betrayal of Medea, who left her home in Colchis for him, killed her brother and forsook her magical powers. Now she is his wife and mother of two sons, living in exile in Corinth, as Jason decides to leave her to marry Krëusa, the daughter of Kreon, the king of Corinth. Confronted with banishment and the possible loss of her children, Medea plots and exacts her ultimate revenge on Jason and the ruling family of Corinth.
Ben Power is a British dramaturg and playwright. Since 2010 he has been an associate director of the National Theatre.
