The Charlottesville Incident - A Human Rights Perspective from Dean Blake D. Morant (GW Law)

Am Donnerstag, den 5. Juli 2018, hielt Blake D. Morant, Dekan und Robert Kramer Forschungsprofessor der GW Law School einen Vortrag zu den Ausschreitungen in Charlottesville, die sich im August letzten Jahres ereignet haben. Dean Morant hat sich in seinem Vortrag mit dem Thema Menschenrechte und dem grundlegendem Recht auf Meinungsfreiheit im Rahmen der Gewalt in Charlottesville auseinandergesetzt.

Empfangen wurden Dean Blake D. Morant und Frau Joshi Shehernaz, die Direktorin des Internationalen Programms an der GW Law School, von Professor Dr. Thomas M.J. Möllers, Professor Dr. Matthias Rossi, Professor Dr. Thilo Rensmann, Professor Dr. Wolfgang Wurmnest und den beiden Gastprofessoren Peter Wendel (Pepperdine University) und Ronald Brand (University of Pittsburgh).

Dean Morant ist von Equal Justice Works zum John R. Kramer Outstanding Law Dean ernannt und von National Jurist bereits dreimal als eine der einflussreichsten Persönlichkeiten der juristischen Lehre ausgezeichnet worden. Der ehemalige Präsident der Association of American Law Schools (AALS) hat zahlreiche Schriften in seinen Fachgebieten contract theory, media law und administrative law veröffentlicht und lehrte vor seiner Tätigkeit an der George Washington University unter anderem bereits an der University of Toledo, University of Michigan, University of Alabama und als Gastdozent am Oxford University College.

On Thursday, 5 July 2018, Blake D. Morant, Dean and Robert Kramer Research Professor at the George Washington University Law School, gave a talk on the Charlottesville incident in August last year. Dean Morant examined the role of human rights and the fundamental right to free speech in the wake of the Charlottesville violence.

Dean Blake D. Morant and Ms. Joshi Shehernaz, Director of the Graduate and International Programs at GW Law, were welcomed by Professor Dr. Thomas M.J. Möllers, Professor Dr. Matthias Rossi, Professor Dr. Thilo Rensmann, Professor Dr. Wolfgang Wurmnest and by American visiting professors Peter Wendel (Pepperdine University) and Ronald Brand (University of Pittsburgh).

Dean Morant was named the John R. Kramer Outstanding Law Dean by Equal Justice Works and recognized three times by National Jurist magazine as one of the most influential people in legal education. The former president of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) has published numerous writings in his areas of specialization, including contract theory, media law, and administrative law and taught at the law schools of University of Toledo, University of Michigan, University of Alabama, and as visiting fellow at University College, Oxford.
