The CHINED VIII conference will take place in Augsburg on June 16-17, 2022. 

The conference theme is: “Ideologies in News Discourse”
 
It is part of the series of Conferences on Historical News Discourse, the first of which was held at Florence in 2004.

The conference series provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of research focusing on historical news discourse. The field is understood in a wide sense, comprising data from a range of manuscript and printed sources such as newsletters, newspapers, general and specialised magazines, pamphlets, broadsides etc. While the focus traditionally is on English news discourse and its linguistic analysis, data in other languages as well as other (inter)disciplinary approaches are welcome.
