PARENTING IN ACADEMIA: tricks, traps, tips. How could parenting and a career in research work best for you? Date: Friday 25 October from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm Where: webinar https://uni-goettingen.zoom-x.de/j/68329791065?pwd=f1kJ0aUPMeKKSDWP0dcc9piqsLuUjz.1 Description: This talk is organised with international researchers in mind but everyone is welcome. It is particularly of interest to anyone considering having children, those who already have children and want to make the most of the opportunities available, as well as anyone who is simply curious about how this could work for them in the future. Experts share their own experiences and advice via short presentations and discussion. Attendees will be encouraged to ask their own questions via the chat. The event is organised by the Welcome Centre and the Göttingen Campus Postdoc Network. Moderator Kerstin Mauth will moderate the discussion. She is a coach, trainer and consultant who runs her own career coaching and consultant company. Expert panel Johanna Kerch combines working part-time in research with caring for little kids. Johanna is a Lecturer / postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Structural Geology and Geothermics, Göttingen University Louisa Kulke – a researcher who achieved tenure and relocated while having small children. Her third child is due in November. Professor in Developmental and Educational Psychology, Bremen University Anas Emad relocated from Syria and his child – now four years old – was born in Germany just before lockdown. Anas is a postdoctoral researcher in the Bioclimatology Group, Göttingen University Renate Putschbach is an organisational expert who can give an overview of the services and advice available in Göttingen.
