Dr. Jauwairia Nasir selected as “Rising Woman Star in Social Robotics”
Dr. Jauwairia Nasir from the chair of human-centered AI got selected as one of the “Rising Woman Stars in Social Robotics” and was invited to give a spotlight talk at the 17th edition of International Conference of Social Robotics + AI 2025 in Naples, Italy. The selection, made by the Women in Social Robotics Committee, is based on “the outstanding academic achievements of the researcher and active contributions to the field and the community”.
Jauwairia presented her research on developing computational models of engagement using multimodal human behaviors in goal-oriented human-robot interaction settings where seemingly engaged behavior may not always be beneficial for the goal of the interaction and vice versa. She showcased this with examples of her work in educational and healthcare HRI settings.
Previously, for some of this work, she has also received the Robotics Society of Japan’s Pioneering Research Award in 2023.
