The dissertation project deals with self-sufficiency in a philosophical-geographical approach. In a first step, the term should be worked up critically, because autarky is a term that today is rather negatively connoted or that is used arbitrarily and confusingly prone to confusion. In a second step, the term should then be presented in a new understanding. As a radical alternative to the expansive growth and globalization logic, new perspectives should be opened not least on (political) power relations that arise when autarky is prevented or lost. Autarky is being reinterpreted as a processual, multi-layered and goal-oriented concept.
The aim of the project is to provide a new approach to the issue of resource strategies in the narrower and to the human-environmental relations in a broader sense as well as to contribute to a Critical Political Ecology.
