Farmers’ Association Visits Institute to Discuss Plastic Use in Agriculture
The Water and Soil Resources Research group hosted a group of 35 farmers from the Württemberg-Franconian Turkey Producers Association at the Institute of Geography on September 24th. The meeting was initiated following the interest generated by our recently published
study on the use of satellite data to map plastic cover use in Germany. During the event, Alessandro Fabrizi and Kay Seufferheld presented current research on plastic contamination in agricultural soil systems, a key focus of Prof. Fiener’s research group, more recently within the EU funded project
SOPLAS. The meeting stimulated a lively and productive discussion, providing valuable insights from the agricultural community. This direct exchange with key stakeholders not only enriched our research but also highlighted the importance of collaboration between science and practice. We extend our sincere thanks to the Württemberg-Franconian Turkey Producers Association for their participation and look forward to future opportunities for dialogue and cooperation with the agricultural community.
