CURRICULUM VITAE

Claudia Mignani is a research scientist at the Institute of Geography at the University of Augsburg. She joined the University of Augsburg in 2023 after a postdoctoral research fellowship at Colorado State University, USA. She received her PhD (summa cum laude) from the University of Basel and holds an MSc and BSc in Environmental Sciences from ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Her research focuses on atmospheric sciences, in particular cloud microphysics and the interactions between aerosols, clouds, and precipitation, integrating approaches from agricultural science and microbiology. Her current work is supported by the University of Augsburg as part of its programme to promote early-career scientists in acquiring third-party funding with a specific focus on sustainability. A recent publication, including extensive field work in Northern Colorado, shows significant correlations between concentrations of ice-nucleating particles (INPs) and rainfall kinetic energy, suggesting that INPs are released by the impact of raindrops on land surfaces.
