Teaching philosophy

Our teaching philosophy

In our courses, we aim to teach you ethical and historical perspectives of medicine in its clinical, scientific, social and political contexts. We also teach the ethical and historical content of midwifery sciences and medical informatics.

Working in the context of medicine, healthcare and healthcare technologies, you are constantly faced with the challenge of not only applying the knowledge you have learned, but also making value judgments, weighing up the various options and understanding relevant historical and social contexts. This involves questions such as how the interests, wishes and ideas of patients and test subjects should guide our actions and what social responsibility medical professionals bear.

Our lectures and seminars aim to impart basic ethical principles and skills for reflecting on your medical and scientific actions as well as historical knowledge. Our teaching is practice-oriented and includes numerous case studies from the past and present as well as practical solutions.

We encourage interaction and joint discussions in large and small groups. We require active participation from all students so that you can apply the relevant skills in your current and future professional roles.

We are always available for questions and look forward to working with you!
