Teaching and studies
Augsburg model medical programme
As the first model medical programme in Bavaria, the Augsburg programme is characterized by the integration of the basic disciplines and the medical disciplines in the narrower sense, which are taught and learned in a network from the first semester onwards. A central role is played by the integrated curriculum with its coordinated teaching-learning formats and a step-by-step approach to the complexity of real medical situations. Students gain insights into medical practice at an early stage of their education, and from the beginning of their studies they learn about contact and interaction with patients. The scientific training of future doctors also plays an important role. They should be able to conduct research themselves, but above all they should have the competence to handle scientific data, to understand and interpret these data correctly.
Bachelor's programme in medical information sciences
In addition to the human medicine programme, the Faculty of Medicine is also responsible for the medical part of the bachelor's programme in medical information sciences. Contact person at the Faculty is Dr. Felix Müller-Sarnowski.
With the training of so-called "data scientists" for medicine, the range of courses fits in ideally with the research forcus of the new Medical Faculty and strengthens the successful development of Augsburg's computer science with interdisciplinary programmes such as business, geo or engineering computer science.
The bachelor's programme in medical information sciences started in the winter semester 2018/19 and a master's programme is planned.
