Master's thesis: Recycling of Residual MXene and its LCA
Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to contribute to a greener future? Join us in our innovative project focused on the recycling of residual MXene and its Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) in cooperation with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Paul Lindner – Chair of Technology Assessment.
MXene, a versatile and promising two-dimensional material, holds tremendous potential for various applications such as Energy Storage or water treatment applications. However, the one of the biggest bottleneck for its utilization lies on the low efficiency and sustainability of synthesis what can be further enhanced through responsible disposal and recycling.
This master’s thesis (+Lab project) aims to develop an efficient and eco-friendly process for recycling residual MXene, minimizing waste and maximizing resource utilization.

Master's Thesis: Synthesis of encapsulated multiscale MXene-Me nanocomposites
Our research is dedicated to pioneering a revolutionary approach that produces new, multifunctional, and reusable 3D-assembled magnetic MXene-based composites and is conducted in the framework of the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship project.
We aim to develop a robust methodology for creating reusable, oxidation-resistant Mxene-based 3D nanocomposites, that are packed with potential for a wide range of applications like Advanced Catalysts, Sensors, and Materials for Additive Manufacturing.
As a student participant, you'll play a pivotal role in:
🔬 Developing a controllable approach to crafting spherical MXene-Me nanocomposites.
🔍 Characterizing intermediate synthesis stages to guide method improvements.
🔮 Evaluating nanocomposites for oxidation resistance and reusability.
🌍 Exploring their application potential.

Bachelor's thesis or Labproject: Large-scale synthesis of MXene
MXene, a versatile and promising two-dimensional material, harbours enormous potential for various applications such as energy storage or water treatment. However, one of the biggest bottlenecks for its utilisation is the low efficiency and yield of the synthesis.
The aim of this bachelor thesis (or labproject) is to build a new setup for our synthesis in the lab, with which we can produce a larger amount of MXenes per synthesis. In addition to the production, the characterisation of the product is also part of this work.
