Teaching

We teach topics from the whole range of English Linguistics, with special attention to discourse studies, pragmatics and the history of the English language. In our teaching, we emphasise analysing actual language use (empirical linguistics, especially corpus linguistics), aiming at appropriately integrating data with theory (such as functional, cognitive or language-change theories). Learning and practicising methods of linguistic analysis is thus an important part of our courses. Needless to say, our research interests also inform our teaching.

We offer courses for the following Studiengänge:

Lehramt, MA English Studies, BA English Studies, BA and MA ANIS, as well as for the MA Ethik der Textkulturen.
