Digital Resources
Digital Databases and Open Access Ressources
There are several online resources for research in Environmental History and the interdisciplinary Environmental Humanities, with digitally accessible or open access material.
Environment and Society Portal
The online portal Environment and Society, developed by the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, is a gateway to open access resources on the human-environment relationships.
Among others, it hosts virtual exhibits such as The Life of Waste or Toxic Relationships, both providing historical and humanistic perspectives on waste, toxicity, and global inequality. These exhibits have been curated by the DFG-research group Hazardous Travels.
Environmental History of the Americas Database (EHAD)
EHAD – Environmental Historiy of the Americas is a literature database run by the library of the University of Bielefeld. It specializes in the regions of Central and South America, with some North America titles, too.
