Institute of Social Sciences
Welcome to the Institute of Social Sciences
The Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Augsburg was founded in 2015 as a joint initiative of the disciplines of political science and sociology and includes a total of ten university departments and chairs.
They initiate their own research projects and are engaged in regional and national research cooperations. Funding bodies and cooperation partners include the City of Augsburg, regional authorities, state and federal ministries (in particular, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research), the German Research Foundation (DFG), and the European Union.
A degree in the social sciences can be obtained in two main ways:
- For students new to the social sciences, we offer the Social Sciences, B.A.
- Since the winter semester 2016/2017, the Social Sciences: Conflicts in Politics and Society, M.A., has been available. It is no longer possible to apply for the Social Sciences: Conflict Research, M.A., or the Social Sciences: Discourse Research, M.A.
- The institute also supports a wide range of degree programmes when it comes to minor subjects.
