New publication "Source selection and source use as a basis for evidence-informed teaching"
We happily announce that we have published a new research article in the German Journal for Educational Psychology (Zeitschrift für Pädagogische Psychologie). In this article, which is a product of the DFG-funded research project "Evidence-oriented reasoning of pre- and in-service teachers", Katharina Kiemer and Ingo Kollar investigate how pre-service teachers' selection and use of different scientific and non-scientific information sources is influenced by their beliefs about the utility of these different kinds of sources when they are asked to analyze a problematic classroom scenario. Results showed that when it comes to source selection, pre-service teachers seem to prefer non-scientific sources over scientific ones. Yet, they more intensively use scientific sources when it comes to analyzing the classroom scenario. Further, the more positive pre-service teachers' beliefs in the tility of scientific sources are, the more likely they are to select and use these sources. For more information, please click here
