Prof. Dr. Kerstin Roeder - Applied Microeconomics
Welcome to the Chair of Applied Microeconomics
The research interests of the Chair of Applied Microeconomics can be divided into two main areas:
- First, we are concerned with the various processes within a family, such as the care of children, the work and consumption decisions of a married couple, or the care of one's parents.
- Second, we are interested in the design of the welfare state. This includes the public provision of health and care services, the taxation of married couples, or the design of incentive taxes.
To answer our research questions, we usually draw on theoretical models and adopt a positive or normative perspective, depending on the research question at hand. In both areas we take into account insights from behavioral economics.
In teaching, the chair offers courses on insurance and behavioral economics in the bachelor's program and courses on microeconomics and the political economy of the welfare state in the master's program.
