ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Qualification for the Master’s degree is proven by
A Bachelor's degree (or other equivalent degree) with proof of the credit points (LPs) ...

- at least 18 credit points from Economics modules and
- at least 50 credit points from Business Administration modules
Please note that an application for the Master’s degree program without an already completed Bachelor’s degree is only possible if you can prove that you have already acquired at least 140 credit points.

FAQs (frequently asked questions):
Yes, in this context, your ECTS credits are equivalent to credit points (CPs).
If you study outside Europe, your achievements will be converted to CPs/ECTS according to the applicable conditions.
- You have the possibility of making up for missing modules in a degree program at any German university**, in order to be able to prove that you meet the requirements. However, here you must note that different modules will only be recognized if they have different content. For example, you cannot list the “Statistics” module twice (even if they are from two different universities), unless, despite the identical title they verifiably have major content differences (e.g., module descriptions). However, note that all requirements must be met by the time you submit your application (cut-off date: application deadline 0:00 midnight). You probably will not only have to allow for an additional term, but also be able to prove that you have passed it within the application period.
- Credit points cannot be made up for in our Master’s degree program in Business Administration, since in order to be admitted to the Master’s degree you must be able to prove that you have the required credits at the time of applying. IMPORTANT: It is also not possible to submit proofs after the deadline.
** Unfortunately, we cannot recommend which university you should attend. In principle, however, you can either enroll in a new bachelor's degree program or catch up on individual modules at various (also virtual) universities.
- On this website you will find some information with which you can independently assess your situation. Also take a look at your module catalog.
- We, however, do not check the requirements before we receive the full application. You will also not receive any information on request on the transferability of examination credits.
- No, the requirements must be met and demonstrated by the time the application is submitted. It is basically not possible to submit these by the time of enrollment or to resit/catch up during the Master’s.
- There is no possibility of receiving a preliminary admission under the option of resitting or catching up on missing credits.
Please note the cut-off date (application deadline 0:00 midnight).
No, however, in order to be considered, you must provide proof of the relevant achievements on an official document (e.g. Transcript of Records).
No, it is not possible to transfer credits from training/vocational training or an internship.
THE 2-STAGE APTITUDE-BASED PROCEDURE
In addition to the requirements named above, qualification for admission to the Master’s degree is also demonstrated by passing the two stages of the aptitude-based procedure.
- Stage for all applicants: Determination of suitability (aptitude) by means of the Bachelor’s degree grade or procedure grade
- Stage for applicants with between 12 and 20 points: Selection interview
1ST STAGE OF THE APTITUDE-BASED PROCEDURE: DETERMINATION OF THE NUMBER OF POINTS
The Bachelor’s degree grade or procedure grade is used to determine aptitude and is converted into points:
The maximum number of points, 30, are issued for grade 1.0. One point is deducted for each tenth of a note below 1.0.
Note for applicants who have not yet completed a Bachelor’s degree:
If you have not yet completed a Bachelor’s degree at the time of application, it is nonetheless possible for the admission requirements and aptitude to be checked, if:

You have already achieved at least 140 credit points in examination credits,

you can show that you have the required credit points from modules in business and economics methods, economics, and business administration, and
-
your (aptitude-based selection) procedure grade equals at least 12 points:
To determine the (aptitude-based) procedure grade (“relevant overall grade”), the credits not yet achieved for the degree are rated with grade “4.0” and are offset against your current average grade as a weighted arithmetic mean.
If you successfully pass through the aptitude-based procedure, however, you must prove that you have achieved your Bachelor’s degree on the last day of enrollment at the latest. Otherwise, you cannot enroll.

If you successfully pass through the aptitude-based procedure, however, you must prove that you have achieved your Bachelor’s degree on the last day of enrollment at the latest. Otherwise, you cannot enroll.
To determine the procedure grade ("relevant overall grade"), the achievements missing for the degree are assessed with the grade "4.0" and offset against your current average grade as a weighted arithmetic mean.
This calculation is done exclusively by the application team, an independent calculation on your part will not be taken into account.
For orientation an exemplary calculation:
You need 180 ECTS for a degree.
According to your average grade certificate, you have achieved an average grade of 2.34 with 160 ECTS completed and taken into account*.
For a successful graduation, you are missing 20 ECTS (= 180 ECTS - 160 ECTS), which come in with the grade 4.0.

ECTS earned : credit points included in the average grade (according to certificate)
average grade achieved : average grade currently achieved (according to certificate)
missing ECTS: missing or open credit points that still have to be earned before successful completion of the degree program
necessary ECTS : credit points required for a successful graduation (often 180, 210 or 240 ECTS)
*Perhaps deviation, e.g. for more courses taken or for ungraded courses.
2ND STAGE OF THE APTITUDE-BASED PROCEDURE: THE SELECTION INTERVIEW
All applicants who have achieved an overall number of points of 12 to 20 are invited to a selection interview.
Applicants can achieve up to 9 additional points during the selection interview by demonstrating that they have sufficient qualifications.
The points achieved in this way are weighted according to the examination regulations and are added to the points from the 1st stage.
If at least 21 points are achieved in this way, the applicants receive an acceptance/admission letter, otherwise they are rejected.
General notes:
- The selection interview lasts for 15 minutes and ranges from the theoretical to the methodological technical qualification for the degree program.
- The selection interviews are held each term, only on the dates given below. It is not possible to postpone or bring forward the date of the interview outside of the specified period.
- It should be noted that personal presence at the selection interview is mandatory. The selection interviews will take place digitally via Zoom until further notice.
- You will receive an invitation via e-mail after the end of the cut-off period, which must be confirmed.
- A failure to attend the specified interview slot automatically leads to failure of the aptitude-based procedure.

Invitations to the selection interview are generally sent to the e-mail address you specified in the application portal only after the end of the application period and approximately one week before the selection interviews. You can find the latest delivery of the invitation on this homepage under Dates.
Please take a regular look at your mailbox to check back in time.
In consideration of data protection, if you are invited to the selection interview, you will be asked to make your submitted CV available to the selection committee.
If you have not yet received an invitation to the selection interview (by email), it is possible that your application does not meet the requirements or your application was incomplete. If you have an (aptitude-based) selection procedure grade of 1.99 or better and meet all the other requirements, you will be admitted directly without a selection interview.
You must appear at the selection interview in person. Exemptions are not possible.

Your selection interview only takes place at the time assigned to you. Exemptions or postponements outside the set days for the selection interviews are not possible.
NECESSARY APPLICATION DOCUMENTS
Please note that all the listed documents must be available at the time of submission of the application (cut-off date). Submissions after the end of the application period are not possible. It is your responsibility to ensure that all achievements that you would like to have credited/checked are enclosed in your application file in a legible form.
Unfortunately, the system only allows you to submit one document in the application portal (vibs). Please create a PDF document with all required application documents accordingly. A subsequent adjustment of the application folder (after upload) is unfortunately not possible. If you have not yet received the certificate, the following proofs (official certificates) must be enclosed with the application instead of point 5:

**IMPORTANT:
If your original documents are not written in German or English, then these documents must be attached to the application file as a certified copy or as a certified translation by a sworn translator in Germany with visible and legible stamps.
Without this legitimization, this application component will not be considered for the selection process!
This also applies to achievements that you would like to bring in, e.g. from a semester abroad.
A Transcript of Records contains the following parts:
- List of all credits (including those for degree-related internships or indicative examinations),
- the respective examination results achieved (grades) and
- the corresponding credit points.
In case of incompleteness of the ToR, e.g. due to missing proof of examinations in orientation phases or missing certification (if the original is not written in German or English), this unfortunately cannot be considered in the application and can lead to a rejection.
Accordingly, please make sure that the Transcript of Records is complete.
General notes:
- You yourself must ensure that the required documents and any authenticated copies are available/included and legible.
- Links or references to websites or to download (portals) of documents, etc. are not permitted and will not be taken into account. Accordingly, only the information for the aptitude-based eligibility assessment that is clearly visible directly from your application folder (and any subsequent submissions by email within the period) will be used.
- If you want to include degree documents from a non-German language course of study program in your application, please note that these must be submitted as a certified copy or as a certified translation by a sworn translator in Germany (originals in neither German nor English).
*In consideration of data protection, if you are invited to the selection interview, you will be asked to make your submitted CV available to the selection committee.
Accepted language proofs for English level B2 and German level C1:
For a successful application to the Master's program in Business Administration, proof of English proficiency level B2 according to GER (Gemeinsamer Europäischer Referenzrahmen für Sprache; engl. CEFRL) is required and must be enclosed with the application file. Please note, however, that in order to apply for the Master's program in Business Administration at the University of Augsburg, you must already provide proof of these English skills at the time of application (cut-off deadline)!
These language skills are considered to be proven if a university entrance qualification or the first university degree from an English-speaking educational institution has been acquired, as well as by the certificate of the general university entrance qualification with at least the grade "sufficient" in the continued foreign language English or a school-leaving certificate comparable to this [alternative to the grade: explicitly stated English level min. B2 according to GER; English CEFRL]. In addition, the following certificates and standardized language tests, among others, are recognized at Augsburg University (official certificates are mandatory):

The following language proofs are not accepted: Terms spent abroad, individual English language modules in a degree program, language courses at the university, if no explicit language level is shown as well as CET-4 or CET-6 (Chinese language tests).
For a successful application to the Master's program in Business Administration, proof of German level C1 according to the GER (Gemeinsamer Europäischer Referenzrahmen für Sprache; engl. CEFRL) is required, among other things, and must be enclosed with the application file. Please note that in order to apply for the Master's program in Business Administration at the University of Augsburg, you must already provide proof of this German language proficiency at the time of application (cut-off deadline)!
In addition to the university entrance qualification (HZB) in German or a German-language course of study (official proof required; certificate, excerpt of examination regulations, etc.), the following language tests, among others, are recognized at University of Augsburg:

German “A-level” (high-school diploma) or “Reifeprüfung” (school leaving examination) at a school in which the classes are taught in German,

German language test for university admission of foreign applicants (DSH - level 2 or 3),

German as a foreign language test (DaF test - level 4 or 5 in all four subareas),

- With a German-language course of study:
With a German language degree, your application requires the parts in accordance with “For applicants with a German-language course of study”. Please enclose official verification that your degree was taken in German with your application.
Note: If you would like to transfer additional modules from a non-German-language course of study**, they must be submitted according to “For applicants without German-language course of study” and must be authenticated accordingly.
- Without a German-language course of study:
If you have not completed a German-language course of study**, your application requires the parts in accordance with “For applicants without a German-language course of study”.
Note: You do NOT have to convert your grades and credit points according to our grades and ECTS credits. Please simply enter the final grade and credit points you achieved in the application portal. If they are not accepted, you can enter a fictitious number (e.g., 5.00 for the grade or 240 for the credit points, etc.).
**A scan of your original Bachelor’s certificate including the Transcript of Records (alternatively an officially authenticated copy) is sufficient for the application. If your original certificates are not in German or English, in addition you will need to submit a scan of the officially authenticated translation of the Bachelor's certificate including the Transcript of Records translated and authenticated by a translator sworn in Germany. The authentication stamp must be legible and clear.
IMPORTANT: You do not have to send your application folder by post. You do not have to submit the original copy of the Bachelor’s degree certificate or the translation until enrollment (authenticated copy or simple copy and presentation of the original copy of the certificate).

The application for the Master's degree in "Business Administration" is submitted solely in digital form. Submission by postal mail is not necessary.

No, the application procedure is digital.
Apart from submitting the application in the portal, you have no further steps to complete within the application phase.
After the end of the application phase you may receive an invitation to attend the selection interview, which you must confirm.
If you have, for example, incorrectly entered the number of terms, credit points achieved, or your first and last name in the portal, please note the correction(s) on your “application for admission” and send the corrected version to

**IMPORTANT: This is only possible within the application phase. After the expiry of the application deadline it is no longer possible to submit documents or make adjustments!!
You can only upload a single PDF document. There are numerous websites that explain how to make a single PDF document from several documents. Please take care of this yourself and in good time so that you have adequate opportunity.

Yes and no. A completed Bachelor’s degree is relevant for the enrollment. The final grade for this degree counts as a selection criterion for inclusion in the aptitude-based procedure. Accordingly, the necessary documents from the Bachelor’s degree must be included in the application folder. The Master’s degree can be added as supplementary documents.
Currently, there is no limit to the number of applications/attempts for the Master of Business Administration program.

The activation takes place about 2-3 weeks before the end of the respective application period. As soon as the exact date is known (at the latest in May or November), it will be published here.
The application is made via the program portal. You will find a link to this portal at the top of the website under Details “Links & Documents”.

- Application start: The application portal will be opened about 2-3 weeks before the application deadline and will be published here in May or November at the latest.
- Selection interview: The selection interviews always take place on Thursdays and Fridays and approx. 2-3 weeks after the end of the cut-off period. An invitation will be sent to the e-mail address you provided in the application portal. Therefore, take a look at your mailbox regularly.
- Status in the portal: The status in the portal changes only 2-3 weeks after the end of the application phase or when the notifications are sent. Further information on the status can unfortunately not be given during the application process.
- Dispatch of notifications: Admission notifications are sent to you via the application portal and rejection notifications are sent by post. The dispatch takes place at the earliest after the end of the cut-off period/selection interviews.
- Validity of the acceptance: An acceptance for a study place is only valid for a study start in the following semester. If you wish to begin your studies in a later semester, you must reapply in the portal.
- Enrollment: Enrollment is only possible with the Bachelor's degree certificate or a confirmation from the examination office that the Bachelor's degree has been passed. If you have any questions, please contact the Registrar’s Office.
