The Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum warmly congratulates Dr. Khrystyna Seméryn, who was a guest researcher at the Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum in 2023, on receiving the award Encounter: The Ukrainian-Jewish Literary Prize of the year 2025 for her anthology “Centuries of Presence. The Jewish World in Ukrainian Short Prose of the 1880s-1930s”

With writer, playwright and filmmaker Tsitsti Dangarembga from Zimbabwe, we have succeeded in winning a significant author and director of recent African cinema. Her lectures in Augsburg will focus on the topic ‘21st Century Solutions from No Man's Land: A Framework for a More Sustainable Planet from Ancient Africa’. The lectures will be held in English.

From December 2024 to the end of January 2025, Prof. Dr Hermílio Santos will be a visitor to the Chair of Sociology and the Jakob Fugger Centre.

Prof. Dr Elisabeth Naurath, a protestant religious education teacher at the University of Augsburg, has been awarded an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership. Together with international partners, the project aims to better integrate topics associated with climate change, climate resilience, and climate justice into the education of religious education teachers in Germany, Austria, Spain, Albania, and Malaysia.

Climate change, Corona pandemic, and the dynamics of a globally interconnected world confront societies with numerous challenges. In two digital events on January 11 and 18, 2021, as part of his International Visiting Lectureship at the Jakob Fugger Center, Vittorio Hösle will examine the challenges posed by these issues and the answers philosophy can offer. He is a professor of philosophy at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana, USA).

A conference on the Legacy of the Black Civil Rights Movement in the Transatlantic World, organized in collaboration with the University of Augsburg and the University of Erfurt, will be held at the Akademie für Politische Bildung in Tutzing from September 8th to 10th, 2021.
