Dr. Vadim Plastovets awarded Walter Benjamin Programme position by the German Research Foundation

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has awarded Dr. Vadim Plastovets a Walter Benjamin position for a period of two years at the University of Augsburg. This funding program enables him to implement his own research project in Germany as Postdoc.

In collaboration with Prof. Francesco Piazza, Vadim Plastovets plans to explore the physics of quantum vortices in superconducting materials coupled to optical cavities. This theoretical project aims to interpret current experimental observations and find the promising new directions in the cavity-QED physics in solids. It enriches the already diverse scientific activities of the Theoretical Physics III group at Zentrum für Elektronische Korrelationen und Magnetismus (EKM) and broadens its collaborative potential with research groups across Germany and Europe.

The Walter Benjamin Programme enables postdoctoral researchers at an early career phase to independently conduct their own research project at a location of their choice, with the aim of fostering mobility and thematic development. The project can be carried out at a research institution in Germany or abroad, with the host institution providing support for the project.
