University Professor (m/f/d) for Software Engineering, Faculty of Applied Computer Science
The Faculty of Applied Computer Science at the University of Augsburg at the Institute of Computer Science is seeking to make the following appointment by 1st of September 2025 University Professor (m/f/d) The appointment is as a tenured public servant. We are looking for a person with an excellent international track record in the field of software engineering, for example in one or more of the following areas: The tasks of the professorship include the active representation of the subject Software Engineering in research and teaching at the Institute of Computer Science. A willingness to participate in academic self-administration is expected. Key selection criteria are the successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding and high-ranking publications. The willingness to participate in joint applications of the Institute of Computer Science in co-operation with the other faculties and institutes, such as applications in medicine and production, is a prerequisite. The duties also include appropriate participation in the education of all students at the Institute of Computer Science as well as in service courses for other disciplines, in particular with innovative teaching methods. The ability to teach in German in undergraduate degree programmes is required. In addition to the general requirements under public service law, the prerequisites for employment pursuant to Art. 57 Para. 1 BayHIG are a completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, and the special aptitude for academic work typically demonstrated by the quality of doctorate, as well as additional academic achievement through a habilitation or equivalent qualification, which may have been achieved outside of the university sector or through a junior professorship. Leadership of a junior research group is considered an equivalent academic achievement under the conditions specified in Art. 98 Para. 10 Sentence 5 BayHIG. Appointment as a public servant is possible only up to the age of 52. Candidates over the age of 52 can be employed within the framework of an employment contract under private law.
