Assessment process for subject-specific university admission
Based on the documents submitted with the application for the assessment of higher education entrance qualification (Antrag auf Feststellung der Hochschulzugangsberechtigung), the assessment process will assess whether the formal requirements have been met and whether the vocational training and experience and the desired degree programme are related to one another.
A relationship between the vocational training and experience and the desired degree programme will be recognised if both the training and experience share similar content to the desired degree programme and are aimed at imparting knowledge and skills relevant to the desired degree programme. The University of Augsburg is responsible for determining the degree of relation between the training and experience and the degree programme. Assessments made by one Bavarian higher education institution shall be recognised by other Bavarian higher education institutions insofar as the assessment concerns the same or similar degree programme. A trial study period at the University of Augsburg is not possible. Details of the higher education admission examination are regulated by the university’s admission statutes (Hochschulzugangssatzung).
If all the prerequisites are fulfilled, you will receive an invitation to an advisory interview and to the higher education admission examination (Hochschulzugangsprüfung, HZP).
Please note: For the Human Medicine – Augsburg Competency-Based Medical Program, the focus content-wise of the higher education admission examination is on knowledge of the natural sciences. The examination is based on the HAM-Nat, a selection process for medical degree programmes. To prepare for the examination, the faculty recommends the free learning platform viaMINT.
If you have successfully passed the higher education admission examination, you will receive confirmation of having a higher education entrance qualification from the Registrar’s Office at the University of Augsburg. The confirmation will show your grade point average (weighted average of your grade in the written and oral examination) and the date of acquisition. The grade point average corresponds with the grade of the higher education entrance qualification, which you can use to apply for restricted admission degree programmes. The confirmation serves as evidence of a higher education entrance qualification for admission and enrolment processes and must be included with your application documents for restricted admission degree programmes and with your enrolment documents for open admission degree programmes.
