Study content:

The Master's programme in Geoinformatics introduces students to scientific work, taking into account English as the scientific language in geoinformatics. The aim of this degree programme is the intelligent processing of geographical information in the context of geographical issues. This includes the development of (computer-aided) methods for geodata analysis - from data acquisition & storage, processing, data enrichment to advanced explorative visualisation and cartographic

communication. The acquired knowledge and competences are also to be applied in projects before the degree programme is completed with a scientific Master's thesis.

  2. Bachelor's degree certificate or comparable degree.
  3. If the certificate is not available, proof of the examination results achieved in this degree programme, the average grade achieved in the process, the number of credit points included in the calculation of the average grade, as well as the number of credit points required for the completion of the corresponding degree programme must be enclosed (Transcript of Records). Students of the University of Augsburg please apply for the certificate at an early stage via e-mail ssc@zv.uni-augsburg.de at the Student Information Office. You will be notified via your student e-mail address (retrievable with your RZ ID and RZ password via https://webmail.uni-augsburg.de/) as soon as the certificate can be collected.

  8. If applicable, evidence of language skills in English (course certificates, stays abroad, language certificates, etc.)
  9. If applicable, evidence of programming languages (course certificates, brief assessment of your skills, naming the programming and/or scripting languages).


Please note: Good knowledge of English and programming languages is indispensable for the success of the Master's programme in Geoinformatics.
