The University of Augsburg is committed to climate-friendly and resource-saving operations as part of a Green Transformation. Measures to achieve greenhouse gas neutrality as part of climate protection and energy management, the certification of Green Labs for more environmentally friendly laboratory operations, and the development and implementation of a biodiversity strategy contribute to the university's ecological responsibility and future viability.

In this way it also provides sustainable mobility and continuing education opportunities for employees and students. Local and regional collaborations and networks with and within the city of Augsburg form the basis for the further development of a sustainable university campus. To record and evaluate all sustainability achievements, the university participates in the GreenMetric World University Ranking, which now compares almost 1,500 universities in 95 countries. In addition to research performance and teaching offerings, it also takes into consideration the sustainable design and resource-efficient operation of the campus.
