  • Optimization of Electrophoretic deposition parameters

This research project focuses on optimizing the electrophoretic deposition (EPD) process to produce high-quality ceramic coatings. Using a combination of ceramic powders, the project will investigate the role of solvents, dispersants, and process parameters such as voltage and deposition time on the coating quality.

  • Emission measurements for the pyrolysis of phenol-based resins

The chair of Materials Engineering at the MRM is involved in the further development of carbon fiber-reinforced silicon carbide (C/SiC) materials in collaboration with industry partners. With regard to the goal of CO2 neutrality in German industry by 2045, our chair is making a contribution by examining the energy-intensive processing of these materials for possible savings. It is essential to understand how the process control during pyrolysis affects the composition of emissions. This not only allows important conclusions to be drawn for materials research, but also provides insights for environmental accounting. The aim of this work is to enable a quantitative determination of emissions during pyrolysis and to show how the exhaust gas composition changes when the production parameters are adjusted.
