Open admission degree programmes without a first subject-semester in the summer semester

Some open admission degree programmes can only be commenced in the winter semester. This means that the first subject-semester is not available to study in the summer semester. This applies to the following degree programmes:

  • Betriebswirtschaftslehre, B.Sc. (Business Administration)
  • Erziehungswissenschaft, B.A. (Educational Science)
  • Geographie, B.Sc. (Geography)
  • Lehramt an Grundschulen (Primary School Education)
  • Sozialwissenschaften, B.A. (Social Sciences)
  • Volkswirtschaftslehre, B.Sc. (Economics)

If you would like to enrol in one of these degree programmes, you can only enrol in a higher-subject semester in the summer semester. For this, evidence of academic achievement in the form of acquired credit points must be provided which correspond with placement in the second subject-semester at a minimum.

In the following, you can find an overview of the required credit point for each subject-semester.

So that your academic achievements can be checked, a special enrolment process is required.

If you are not yet enrolled at the University of Augsburg, please register through our online application portal, and submit an application for your desired degree programme. You can only select the 2nd semester for the above-mentioned degree programmes. At the end of the application, you will receive a request to enrol. Please submit this request to enrol together with other documentation required for enrolment, including evidence of your academic achievements acquired to date.

If you are already enrolled at the University of Augsburg, please add an application to your student account in VIBS and apply for online enrolment. You can then select to change your degree programme or apply for a double degree programme and receive an application form online. Please submit this form to the Registrar's Office and enclose an overview of your academic achievements acquired to date.

Initially, it is only possible to enrol (or change into) the second semester. After submitting the documents, a check is only conducted to see whether it is possible to be placed in the second subject-semester. If this is successful, you will be enrolled into the second subject-semester. If you have acquired enough credit points for placement in a higher subject-semester, then there is of course the possibility to be placed in a higher subject-semester. You can submit a request for this after enrolment.

Please note that preliminary review of your academic achievements does not constitute a request for the transfer of credit points. A request to have your credit points transferred must be submitted after enrolment (or after you change into the degree programme) in a separate submission to the Examinations Office.

General questions about the transfer of credit points can be answered by subject-specific study advisors (Fachstudienberatung).

Requests to enrol or to change degree programme must be submitted in full to the Registrar's Office at the latest by 15.02.2025 for the summer semester 2025.
